Synthetic Artist Nicki Minaj

An example of the synthetic artist is Nicki Minaj, who has been in the music industry since 2008. She is well-known for colourful clothes and has been represented as sex symbol by wearing very few clothes or sometimes wearing too much as if she thinks she is a princess. Most of her music video contains her telling a story, starring in the music video unlike the organic artists who tend to let other people star in their music video. Further than that she also own a brand called "PinkFriday" this again signifies that she is trying to sell her image which is typical for synthetic artist to try to sell themselves instead of their music. Also if we look into more detail in her music video we don't see her does a lot of lip singing, instead we only see her acting as if she is the actress also she is not represent through playing any of the instruments these again confirms that she is a synthetic artist

Organic Artist John Mayer

An example of an organic artist is John Mayer. He starts playing guitar with the age of 7. And released his first album called “room for Square” when he was 24 years old. In all of his songs, he claims that he has involved in producing them and most of the guitar solos are written by him.
In his first album he was represented as a new up-coming star with the music style of pop-rock. By means because it was his first album and no one has heard of him at that time, so he was represented not just through his music but his look as well, however, his first hit single was the song called “your body is a Wonderland” which became a massive hit after 2 months of the album released .
After the success of receiving many awards from the first album he then released his second album called “Heavier things” he then quickly recognised by the ability of his guitar skills, which again lead to many awards norminations and he then won several of them including "Song of the year" and "Best male pop vocal performance".
After his success in his second album, he then released the third album called "Continuum" which he described that it's the first album that he could really related and expressed himself through the music. The reason for this is that his icon since he was a kid is Stevie Ray Vaughan and Stevie is well-known for Blues music and in this album John has a chance to produce Blues-rock genre such as the song called "Gravity" which again won the "best rock vocal performance" award. Prior to the released of the Continuum John Has changed his look from the pop young male artist to the Blues-rock type which does not really care about his look rather than that he put all the interest into his music.

Clapton's album cover

The used of black and white signifies the sense of classic and timeless this confirms by the music in this album by mainly blues, slow rock and slow jazz.

The used of props: using guitar signifies that he is a guitar player and by showing just only himself signifies that he is a solo artist also by wearing denim jacket shows that he is a raw artists which does not really care about his look and only care about his music.

his album cover only show him holding G cord without caption on his face this again signifies that he is selling his music not the look.

The used of context shows the album name “slowhand” which is Eric Clapton’s nick name that he has earned over the years. This helps by telling us  without looking at the name that it’s him.
